Assessment 2 - Folio

Folio

This assessment will be broken into 5 parts. For each section you need to create about a page of work describing what you did and answer some questions. The way you present this is quite flexible eg Word document, PowerPoint slides, OneNote, video series of TicToks (5-minutes max) or other as negotiated. 

Each part relies on information from the part before, so if you loose your work then… sucks to be you and you’ll have to start from the beginning.

Part 1

Get a Job

You are now an 18 year-old who has just left/finished school.
Time to find a job.

This part involves getting a pretend job and calculating your weekly gross and net income.

  1. Download the ‘Fake Jobs.zip’ and choose a fake job
  2. Download and fill out the ‘Time Sheet and Income.docx’ using the details of your fake job
  3. Download ‘Part 1 – Get a Job.pdf’ and follow the instructions to create the first page of your How to Adult Folio

Part 2

Get Out

Using your Budget 1 from the previous task, you’ll find somewhere to
live (either by yourself or sharing with others). This will also include
working out which bills need to be paid.

  1. Download the “Get Out” instructions
  2. Create Page 2 of your folio
  3. Check that you are not spending more than you are earning

Part 3

Get Fed

Using your Budget from Part 2, it’s time to work out what you’re going to eat.

You shouldn’t live on 2-Minute Noodles and rice for too long.
You need to plan what you’ll eat for the week and how much it will cost.

  2. Create page 3 of your folio
  3. Check that you are not spending more than you are earning

Part 4

Get Stuff

You need to buy something big and don’t have the cash. You could either save up and wait… or you could get a small personal loan and buy it now. Getting a loan is awesome, but fees and interest is not, so do your research and don’t get trapped by dodgy deals.

  1. Decide on something you need/want – TV, computer, bed, couch etc (choose about $2000-$4000 worth of stuff for now)
  2. Download the “Get Stuff” instructions
  3. Create page 4 of your folio
  4. Check that you are not spending more than you are earning.

Get Stuff

You need to make sure that your lifestyle isn’t killing you.
How much time do you spend:

  • sleeping?
  • working?
  • relaxing?
  • eating?
  • hanging out with family and friends?

 

  1. Download the “Get a Life” instructions
  2. Create your last page of your folio
  3. Download the “Summary” and use it like a checklist to ensure you’ve got everything you need in your folio
